1. What stood out to me the in this chapter was how important ethical values are to a company, to the entrepreneur, and his employees. I worked at a restaurant where the owner was not very kind and considerate of his employees, especially since we were college students involved in other organizations and had classes to go to. I wish I could show him the importance of an "owner's value system [is] a critical component of ethical considerations that surround a business"(. A lot of the employees did not respect the establishment as much as they would be working at another restaurant with higher expectations. This just goes to show that an owner's attitude towards his establishment affects his employees actions.
2. The two terms in this chapter that confused me the most were role distortion and role assertion. It took me a minute or two for me to distinguish the two while reading that paragraph because they both have the same bad intentions, but are displayed in a different manner. Both have the same concept, but they are executed differently.
3. One question I would ask the author is how he came up (or if he found) the image of the conceptual framework. It is very interesting how they assorted the terms into the shape of the compass and incorporated quadrants like a geometric circle. The second question I would ask the author is what he thinks is the most difficult ethical thing for a boss/owner/entrepreneur to decide between? I find this question to vary on the person's beliefs and I want to get more of feeling of what type of boss/entrepreneur the author is.
4. The author talks about external optimism and defines it as, "allows other to believe in them during rough periods. He then states about how entrepreneurs "when taking to its extreme, this optimistic attitude can lead to fantasy approach to the business. This right here is something I can not agree with. A person's optimism can never be detrimental. I feel that someone being positive about their business and believing in their ideas and actions, will not hurt them permanently, but will help them in the long run. They are not fantasies, but simply visions.

Identifying Local Opportunities
The local newspaper I chose for this assignment was the Gainesville Sun. I read it often along with the Alligator paper, as well.
In the Gainesville Sun, I found the following five problems individuals are facing:
1. Rally to Protect Paynes Prairie

This article is about the promotion and information of protecting Paynes Prairie at their rally that took place January 23, 2016. In this article, the writer also addresses that Governor Rick Scott is taking away funding from staff that take of recreational centers, leading to him privatizing the public land.
Problem: "Scott has reduced them to this condition intentionally, so that he can make the claim that he’s rescuing the State Parks when he leases their lands to timber companies and cattle ranchers and hunters, a step in the direction of privatizing public lands".
The group called Protect Paynes Prairie, is the group being affected. They are in charge of the rally and stated in the article that they need people to show up in order to show care for the park.
2. Crestview teacher accused of DUI, battery of an officer

This article is about a Crestview High School teacher getting arrested for a DUI and not obeying officer commands, leading to a second charge of batter against an officer. The high school teacher is named Jon J. Jacobs who had a blood alcohol of .260.
Problem: "Jon J. Jacobs, 52, of Hilary St., Crestview, is charged with one count each of driving under the influence and battery on a law enforcement officer after a Jan. 5 accident".
The person and group affected by this is Mr. Jacob and the school's reputation where he taught at, Crestview High School.
3. Roaches, both living and dead, result in local restaurant's shutdown

In this article, a local Chinese restaurant called Hunan, gets closed down due to a health inspector finding 15 dead cockroaches, and 10 live roaches on cartons of eggs. According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, they violated 25 different citations.
Problem: "A Chinese restaurant in northern Okaloosa County became the latest local eatery to be shut down by the state last week after failing its random inspection".
The ones affected by this problem are the owners and employees of Hunan. This also affects customers as well.
4. Two local nightclubs close permanently; one to reopen as something else

In this article, we learn about two popular nightclubs. Nightown, which was around for 40 years, officially closed after their annual New Year's Eve Party. The reason has not been released. Another club called Swamp at the Boardwalk is closed for renovations and will have a new theme and new name when they open doors.
Problem. "Nightown closed its doors for good after hosting its annual $10,000 balloon drop to celebrate New Year’s Eve last week. No reason for the nightclub’s closure has been released.The Swamp at The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island is currently closed as the building undergoes a renovation and expansion. When the business reopens, which is currently scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, it will have a new name and a new concept".
The people affected are the owners of both clubs, employees, and customers.
5. Man arrested in sexual assault of child

In this article, the Police Department of Chipley investigated a case resulting in the arrest of Martayvias M. Sorey for sexually assaulting a minor. According to the child's mother, she noticed him acting indecent around her daughter. He was charged with lewd lascivious batter on a minor and his bond is being held at $50,000.00.
Problem: An investigation begun in September by the Chipley Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a Chipley man in the sexual assault of a minor. The criminal, Martayvias M. Sorey, now is being charged with "lewd lascivious battery on a child 12 to 15 years of age and was booked into the Washington County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000.00 bond".
People affected by this is the community of which he lived in and where he will live in, the child, and her family.

Very Short Interview No. 1
For this interview, I had no idea who to interview. I asked my friend Meredith Adams, who is President and co founder of a club her at UF called IA LEAD. To my surprise, she listed her mother, father, uncle, and everyone in her family as a entrepreneur. I had so many options, but decided to interview her mother, Peggy Adams.
Peggy is a mother of two and was a fashion designer for children's clothing for decades and also, an author. She is well experienced in the field and is very wise. What makes her an entrepreneur is her fashion design for children's clothing was all created and designed by her! I asked her the following questions:
1. What did being an entrepreneur mean to you? The opportunity to utilize and enhance my creative ability, develop my business skills, and still be a stay at home mom.

2. What do you think I should learn in my entrepreneur class?
a) No idea is stupid! Follow your passion, however, be sure to always remember that the
business aspects are REALLY important or you won't have a solid business, no matter
how fantastic your idea is...
b) Do thorough research about your idea before jumping in. Try to be honest with yourself
and look at the good, the bad, and the ugly!
c) Hire a professional to develop a realistic, unbiased written business plan. As you grow,
continue to review the plan and revise as needed.
c ) Most businesses fail early on because they are undercapitalized and/or have poor
inventory control. Be sure to set up a reliable inventory control system and establish
how much capital you have to invest in this venture, as well as how much money you
are willing to risk losing.
d) Be realistic about how much time you will need to devote to your new baby! This is a
very important aspect of your business plan. Identify a point of no return- when it
doesn't make sense to continue.
3. What do you wish you had been taught in school before setting your own path as an
entrepreneur? The importance of a solid business plan, recognize the fact that your first loss is always your best loss, and never go into business with your best friend.
Could not have interviewed and gained valuable advice from such an experienced and wise person. I know if I were ever to go into business or create my own company, I know her advice will be taken into each step I go along. Now I know that there is more to entrepreneurship than just ideas and making it big, but the business side and that failure happens to everyone.

World's Biggest Problems
1. World Hunger. This is a problem all over the world. 795 million people, according to the WFP, do not have food to lead to a healthy life. My solution would be to have all restaurants around the world have a huge bin outside their establishment and throw all food and leftovers in the bin. This could be a temporary solution.
2. Shortage of drinkable water. This is an even bigger problem, because humans can survive without food longer than they can survive without water. And water is used to cooking and cleaning. A solution: this may be irritable to people, but people take unnecessarily long showers and I think there should be installed in every shower, a timer that will go off after a decent amount of showering. This would conserve and keep water available. Must take drastic measures to preserve the planet.
3. Endangered species. The problem behind animals going extinct is their habitats are being used to build condominiums and huge communities. There is no permanent place for animals to build a family. A solution I would believe help animals keep their habitat in one place is to dedicate 2 or 3 quadrants in a state for places for animals to live.
4. Terrorism. This is a huge problem that people are not taking to heart. Our country suffers from people hating America and citizens that are not well informed of what is going on in the world. A solution I would purpose, which has probably been initiated before, is to have the United Nations have everyone meet in a VERY secure place and come to a compromise. This is very unlikely, because the UN is not suppose to enforce decisions and actions, but support.
5. Overpopulation. New babies means baby bottles and toys, which means plastic, which also means having the the tools to make the bottles and toys which finally means RESOURCES. Resources are currently being depleted and with the rising babies constantly being born and made, there will be in the future a shortage of resources, including water of course. A solution to this (which is very radical) would be to limit the amount of babies per family, or make contraceptives more accessible.
6. Lack of affordable education. Most of the students I went to high school with could not attend certain schools they got accepted to due to financial problems. Should school be that much money that a family can not send their child to a school they deserve to earn their degree? A solution would be to not include certain dues in tuition fees. Extracurricular activities should not be included in tuition, which not all students take a part in. And should e-books be worth $80 for a 10 digit code for a year? Our education should be priceless, not with a price tag.
7. Polarization of political parties. In the United States, the controversy of publicly letting people what party you are affiliated with can make or break friendship. It is the political world we live in today in America. There should not be such two extreme parties that are unable to agree on decisions. We all live in the same country, so we must have to come to an agreement. A solution could be: eliminate all political parties. Have the individual vote for their preferred candidate. Simple.
8. Women Oppression. We live in a society where men are viewed as masculine and women are categorized as feminine. This comes to a topic of women being oppressed. Solution: To eliminate the glass ceiling in the work place for women. Most companies hire more women because men supposedly get paid more, while women get paid less. This minimum wage should not be targeted only at men, but should be the equal price, regardless of gender.
9. Human Trafficking. Around the world and even in movies, people (mostly women) are taking and put into the industry of human trafficking. This is a horrible situation to happen to anyone and no one should have to go through it. A solution to stop human trafficking is: to educate women in highly populated areas where trafficking occurs. The more education and awareness, the less people would risk the troubles of trafficking and more women will know what to do.
10. Global Warming. There is no doubt that global warming exists. If we do not keep or start to preserve this Earth, there will be no place for future kids to call a place home. To reduce global warming, there should be Earth Day more often, or turning off lights in certain sections of each state. This would reduce Earth's carbon footprint.
